The Confucius Institute in Sofia - a Winner At The Peony Meets The Rose Photography And Painting Competition

On 1st July, 2024 a awards ceremony has been held for the The Peony Meets The Rose photography and paintings competition organised by the Chinese Embassy in Bulgaria. The competition has been open for Bulgarian citizens and Chinese citizens permanently residing in Bulgaria. The topics of the works have comprised wonderful moments reflecting the friendly exchanges and the people-to-people communication between China and Bulgaria in various spheres, as well as the Chinese culture, the developmental achievements, the local customs, the Belt And Road Initiative cooperation, the Chinese modernisation, etc.

After expert evaluation, Izabel Lazarova - a student from the Confucius Classroom at the University of Plovdiv which is part of the Confucius Institute in Sofia family, has won the second prize in the adults category. Mihaela Arabadzhieva - a student from the Confucius Classroom at the Southwestern University in Blagoevgrad, has won the award for excellence in the adults category. Georgi Vasilev - a student from the Confucius Classroom at the Geo Milev English Language School in Burgas, has won the award for excellence in the adult category. Aleksandra Todorova – also a student from the Confucius Classroom at the Geo Milev English Language School in Burgas, has won the award for excellence in the children and teenage category.
In this competition, the students from the Confucius Institute in Sofia have participated with great enthusiasm and have prepared meticulously, demostrating their passion and love for the Chinese language and culture. The teachers of the award-winning students have said that they would continue to make persistent efforts in the future and to deeply cultivate the Chinese language and culture teaching so as to help the humanistic exchanges between China and Bulgaria.
