General Information about the HSK exam

Since 2010, the Testing Center at the Confucius Institute – Sofia has introduced the new format of the Chinese Proficiency Test (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi – HSK). The new HSK was created on the basis of the accumulated experience in the field of teaching Chinese as a foreign language in China and abroad, and in accordance with the modern linguistic theories for testing and evaluating the level of proficiency in the foreign language. In order to give a more complete and comprehensive evaluation of the level of knowledge of the Chinese language, the new HSK test is conducted in two separate forms – written and oral, which are conducted and evaluated independently.
The written exam is suitable for the following categories of students:

 Written test HSK

Duration of Chinese studies Weekly classes Volume vocabulary (words)
