The Confucius Classroom at Burgas English Language High School under Confucius Institute in Sofia Participated in the Opening Ceremony of the National Round of the English Language Olympiad

On March 20, the Confucius Classroom at Burgas English Language High School, under the Confucius Institute in Sofia, participated in the opening ceremony of the National Round of the English Language Olympiad. The event was jointly organized by the Burgas Regional Department of Education under the Ministry of Education and Science of Bulgaria and Burgas English Language High School, and was held at the International Congress Center Burgas. Distinguished guests included Maria Barganova, Chief Expert of the Ministry of Education and Science; Dobromir Gyulev, Governor of Burgas Region; Dimiter Valchev, Deputy Governor of Burgas Region; Mihail Nenov, Deputy Mayor of Burgas; Valentina Kamalieva, Director of the Burgas Regional Department of Education; senior expert Zhaneta Dimitrova; Zhaklin Neycheva, Principal of Burgas English Language High School; and other guests. Teachers, students, and parents from the school also participated, with nearly 300 people attending in total.

At the opening ceremony, the attending guests delivered speeches in turn, expressed their best wishes to the contestants, and praised the Burgas English Language High School for its excellent language teaching and event organization.

Two students from the Confucius Classroom at Burgas English Language High School participated in the opening ceremony performances. A 10th-grade student performed a Chinese fan dance titled 'Blue and White Porcelain,' using body language to showcase the delicacy and strength of traditional Chinese art to the guests. An 11th-grade student recited in Chinese the poem “Drowning Stars” by Bulgarian poet Petya Dubarova, demonstrating excellent language skills and earning rounds of applause from the audience.

The Confucius Classroom at Burgas English Language High School made its debut on the national platform of the English Olympiad in Bulgaria, presenting a shining “business card” of Chinese culture to the local education community. The blending of Chinese and Bulgarian cultures on stage perfectly embodies the idea that beauty shines through sharing.
