On March 25–26, the Confucius Classroom at Plovdiv University under the Confucius Institute in Sofia, held a “Confucius Classroom Open Day” event in the old building library and Room 516 of the new building. Nearly 50 participants attended, including Chinese language teachers from the Confucius Classroom, students from various programs at Plovdiv University, and local residents.
Chinese language teachers organized and planned cultural experience activities on different themes, including Chinese calligraphy, paper-cutting, and Peking opera masks. The activities followed a format of “short video introduction, teacher demonstration and explanation, and hands-on practice by students.” During the event, participants experienced the structure of Chinese characters through calligraphy practice, learned paper-cutting techniques to create window decorations, and tried coloring Peking opera masks. The atmosphere was lively, student participation was enthusiastic, and interest in traditional Chinese arts was enhanced.
This event marked the beginning of the tenth-anniversary celebration series of the Plovdiv University Confucius Classroom, providing local students and residents with a window to experience Chinese culture.
