The Confucius Institute in Sofia and the Guan County Chaquan Martial Arts Research Association of Shandong Province Held an Online Cooperation Meeting

On March 24, the Confucius Institute in Sofia and the Guan County Chaquan Martial Arts Research Association of Shandong Province held an online cooperation meeting. Attending from the Guan County Chaquan Martial Arts Research Association were Council Chairman Sha Zongchao, Supervisor He Yongji, and Vice Chairman He Yan, while from the Confucius Institute in Sofia were the Bulgarian Director Aksiniya Koleva and Chinese Director Chen Ying. Both sides discussed future cooperation in martial arts teaching and jointly organizing cultural activities.

During the meeting, Chinese Director Chen Ying of the Confucius Institute in Sofia first introduced the Institute’s scale, current development, and the situation of martial arts schools in Bulgaria. Director Chen noted that the Confucius Institute currently lacks specialized martial arts instructors and expressed hope that the Chaquan Martial Arts Research Association could assist with martial arts teaching online in the future. Council Chairman Sha Zongchao introduced the history, scale, and competition achievements of the Guan County Chaquan Martial Arts Research Association, while expressing willingness to jointly promote martial arts teaching and cultural exchange with the Confucius Institute. Both sides unanimously agreed to formally sign a memorandum of cooperation.

After the meeting, representatives of the Chaquan Martial Arts Research Association performed a Chaquan demonstration and showcased martial arts weapons.

This exchange meeting marked the beginning of cooperation between the Confucius Institute in Sofia and grassroots cultural organizations in China. Both sides look forward to building an offline platform for martial arts enthusiasts from China and Bulgaria to engage in exchange and practice, and to showcase the inheritance and development of martial arts culture in China.
