The Confucius Institute In Sofia Have Held Their Annual End-Of-Year Teaching Staff Meeting For the Academic Year 2023-2024

On 16th June 2024, the annual end-of-year meeting for the academic year 2023-2024 of the Confucius Institute in Sofia, has been held online. Mrs Aksinia Koleva, the Bulgarian director of the Confucius Institute in Sofia, Prof.Chen Ying – the Chinese director of the CIS, the government-sponsored Chinese teachers, one local Chinese teacher, the volunteer teachers and the educational council at the CIS - a total of 18 people, have attended the meeting.
Both directors of the Confucius Institute in Sofia - from the Bulgarian, and from the Chinese sides, have summarised the work, the achievements and the future plans of the Confucius Institute in Sofia during the academic year which has just ended. They both have expressed their gratitude to everybody from the teaching and administrative staff for their hard work. Moreover, they have explained in great details the assessment points and the grading standards for the current academic year.
Taking their turns, the teachers and the volunteers have presented their work reports and have shared their professional experience together with their own understandings and personal values, their Chinese teaching strategies, their cultural activities, their administrative work, their scientific research, etc. They all have summed up their own achievements and have clarified the direction of their future efforts. All of them have put forward their personal suggestions related to the development of the Confucius Institute in the light of their personal practical experience. The mutual assessment between the teachers and the assessment of their excellence in teaching, have been carried out via an anonymous nominations and votes by all the participating teachers. The two directors have reviewed the comprehensive evaluation index of the participating teachers, the assessments provided by their respective teaching institutions and the results of the mutual assessment between teachers. As a result, Huang Shihui, Wang Ruping, and Wang Ying have been awarded the Outstanding Chinese Language Teachers of Confucius Institute in Sofia award for the academic year of 2023-2024. Du Sijie was has been awarded the Outstanding Chinese Language Teacher Volunteer prize.
The Confucius Institute in Sofia is one of the first model Confucius Institutes in the world. Over the past eighteen years following its establishment, CIS have played an important role in the Chinese language education in Bulgaria and in the humanistic exchanges between China and Bulgaria. The suggestions put forward by the teachers at the annual end-of-year meeting will be taken into consideration when organizing the teaching work of the Confucius Institute in Sofia for the next academic year.
