The Confucius Classroom At the University Of Plovdiv Under the Confucius Institute in Sofia Have Jointly Organised a Workshop On Chinese Culture

On 3rd July 2025, the Confucius Classroom at the University of Plovdiv under the Confucius Institute in Sofia, and the ‘Acad. Blagovest Sendov’ Vocational Secondary School of Informatics have jointly conducted a workshop on Chinese culture. This is the first Chinese language and culture promotion activity after the signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation between the school and the Confucius Institute in Sofia. The event has been planned and organised by the Confucius Classroom at the University of Plovdiv and it has attracted the participation of more than 30 teachers and students from the school.
The workshop on Chinese culture has been incorporated into the school's summer vacation programme for primary students this year. In the mini-Chinese classroom session, the students have learned the basic features of the Chinese language, as well as some simple greetings and the numbers. The Chinese culture experience session has included traditional arts such as calligraphy, paper-cutting and colouring Peking opera face-masks, in which the students have followed the teacher's explanation so as to learn how to write Chinese characters with a brush, how to cut out their favourite patterns, and how to apply colours to the selected face-masks, thus immersing themselves in the glamour of the Chinese culture.
Mr Rossen Gerasimov – the headmaster of the ‘Acad. Blagovest Sendov’ Vocational Secondary School of Informatics, has said that the workshop have provided an opportunity for the teachers and the students from the school to have a close encounter with the Chinese language and culture. He said that he has been looking forward to even greater cooperation in the future, as well as to the official launching of the Chinese language course in the autumn semester.
