The Confucius Classroom at the University Of Plovdiv Under the Confucius Institute In Sofia Have Carried Out a Chinese Culture Day

On 14th March 2025, the Confucius Classroom at the University of Plovdiv under the Confucius Institute in Sofia, have been invited to visit No.12 ‘Radost’ Kindergarten in the city of Pernik so as to carry out a Chinese Culture Day. The event has been managed by the Confucius Classroom teachers Mrs Wang Ying (a native Chinese teacher) and Mrs Elitsa Milanova (a local Chinese teacher). Both Chinese teachers have been assisted by Miss Krasimira Panayotova - a fourth-year undergraduate student majoring in German and Chinese language studies at the University of Plovdiv, together with Yu Hao Yang, Yuan Fei, and Deng Lianhua - PhD students at the Plovdiv Academy of Music and Dance Arts. More than 30 people, including Mrs Petya Toleva, the director of the kindergarden, and many teachers and students, have attended the event.
Miss Krаsimira Panayotova – a student at the Confucius Classroom, has showed the children some simple Chinese characters and has taught them some general knowledge about the Chinese culture by using pictures and drawings. Yu Hao Yang, Yuan Fei and Deng Lianhua - PhD students from the Plovdiv Academy of Music And Dance Arts, have taught the children how to sing the Chinese song the ‘Brave Elunchun’ and how to dance the “Blue Troubadour” dance – both traditional art forms of the Inner Mongolian people in China. The kindergarten students have participated in various cultural experiences in groups. The activities have included paper-cutting, calligraphy, face masks painting, chopstick challenges, ethnic costume fitting, etc., and have been given small presents for passing their tests and the atmosphere at the event has been warm and cosy.

The activities have been well-received by the teachers and the students of the kindergarten. The director Mrs Petya Toleva has said that the arrival of the teachers and the students of Confucius Classroom at the Univesrsity Of Plovdiv has enabled the children to experience the charm of the Chinese culture from a close distance which generally helps to cultivate a broad vision and an open and tolerant mindset. Moreover, she has expressed her hopes that more similar activities could be carried out in the future.
