From February 9 to 19, the Confucius Classroom at 101 Secondary School, affiliated with the Confucius Institute in Sofia, held a Spring Festival-themed paper-cutting workshop. More than 70 participants attended the event, including a teacher from the Confucius Institute and students from the school.
The Confucius Institute teacher introduced the historical heritage and customs of the traditional Chinese festival, the Spring Festival, and then explained the cultural significance and demonstrated the steps for paper-cutting. Under the teacher’s guidance, the students tried various paper-cut designs, including lanterns, lucky bags, pavilions, the Chinese character “Spring,” and horses. The activity showcased the students’ rich imagination and enthusiastic creativity.
The Spring Festival-themed paper-cutting workshop lasted for two weeks, and the participating students showed great interest in the activity. Through the art of paper-cutting, abstract traditional customs were transformed into a tangible aesthetic experience, providing students with a window into Chinese folk customs.
