The Alexander Stepanovich Popov Professional High School Of High Technologies Under the Confucius Institute In Sofia Have Organised a Chinese New Year Experience Of Calligraphy And Paper-cutting
On 29th January 2025, the The Alexander Stepanovich Popov Professional High School Of High Technologies - a teaching center under the Confucius Institute in Sofia, have held a Chinese New Year calligraphy and paper-cutting activity. Mrs Margarita Yanakieva - the Headmistress of the school, Mrs Denitsa Ivanova - the Director of the Office For Professional Education And Development, and teachers and students of the CIS, have taken part in the event.
The Chinese teacher has given a brief introduction of the Chinese New Year traditions and of the origins and the characteristics of the paper-cutting and the calligraphy arts. She has explained in detail the techniques of paper-cutting and how to hold and move the brush. The students have listened attentively to the instructions and have showed big interest in creating paper-cut works, writing the Chinese character ‘福’, and some of them have even tried to draw.
The school is a newly-established teaching center under the Confucius Institute in Sofia. Since the first Chinese language class has been held in October 2024, the students have been enthusiastically enrolled in the class and have studied Chinese meticulously, demonstrating their love for Chinese language and culture.
