Teachers From the Confucius Institute - Sofia Have Participated In a Training Workshop On the One Belt, One Road Initiative

A training workshop for local Chinese language teachers has been held in the Beijing and Qingdao between 08.08.2024 and 21.08.2024. The event has been hosted by the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China and the Beijing International Chinese Language Institute (BICLI). The workshop has been attended by representatives from 7 countries participating in the One Belt, One Road initiative - Bulgaria, Mongolia, Egypt, Afghanistan, Ethiopia, Burundi and Sierra Leone. The Bulgarian group has included four representatives of the Confucius Institute - Sofia – Ms Hristina Dumbanova (赫丽喜) from the South-West University in Blagoevgrad, Ms Maria Shalamandova (玛利)from the 18th "William Gladstone" Secondary School - Sofia, Ms Dessislava Boncheva-Vacheva (黛喜) from the Maxim Gorky Secondary School in Stara Zagora, and Ms Maya Kostadinova (玛亚 – the culture councillor at the Confucius Institute - Sofia.
The teacher training has been conducted in two stages - academic training (lectures) and study visits. The academic programme has included the following topics:
1. "Overview of China’s national conditions” by Prof. Qu Bo from the China University Of International Affairs.
2. "Current development of international Chinese language education" by Ms Liu Yan, Vice President of BICLI.
3. "Spiritual Connotation and modern inheritance of traditional Chinese culture" by Prof. Mu Yan from Beijing University of Languages and Cultures.
4. "International Chinese education paper-cut cultute teaching " by Assoc. Prof. Shi Hong from BICLI.
5. "The One Belt, One Road Initiative and its Development" by Mr Zhang Zhijun from China University of International Affairs - Beijing.
6. "International Chinese education martial arts culture teaching" by Prof. Qian Weiguang from China University of International Affairs - Beijing.
7. "Chinese character teaching of internaional Chinese education" by Prof. Zhou Qingjie from BICLI.
8. "HSK exam and teaching" by Assoc. Prof. Qian Weiguang from BICLI.
9. "Integrative teaching for international Chinese language teachers" by Assoc. Prof. Han Linlin from BICLI.
10. "International Chinese language education demonstration lesson " by Assoc. Prof. Han Linlin from BICLI.
11. "Phonetic teaching of international Chinese education" by Assoc. Prof. Liu Li from BICLI.
The workshop has also included visits to high-tech companies, universities and publishing houses involved in technological support for teaching Chinese to foreigners in the form of global AI-assisted teaching platforms (the Beijing KWAI Technology Co.Ltd., and the Meilan Academy in Beijing; the Petroleum University and the iFLYTEK Company in Qingdao), and translation and publication of Chinese language textbooks for foreigners in multiple target languages (Beijing Foreign Language Education and Research Publishing House).
The cultural programme has included a visit to the Great Wall of China and an acrobatic show named “The incredible Han. The programme in Qingdao “has comprised of visits to the Beer Museum and the Old City , as well as to the picturesque Shanshuiyu Village in Shandong Province.
At the closing ceremony, Ms Maria Shalamandova has presented a congratulatory address to the organizers on behalf of all the participants in the seminar. Mr. Yang Wei, Vice President of BICLI, has expressed his satisfaction with the high level of commitment and proactivity of all the participants of the workshop and has solemnly presented certificates of completion to all the participants.
