Confucius Institute in Sofia and Racket Speed Badminton Club Co-Hosted a Chinese Culture Experience Event

On March 22, the Confucius Institute in Sofia visited the court of Racket Speed Badminton Club and, together with the club, organized a Chinese cultural experience event. Over 80 people participated, including the club’s chairman Gergin Angelov, Confucius Institute teachers, club members, and their parents.

At the venue, the institute’s teachers set up a special cultural experience area, featuring Chinese tea tasting, shuttlecock kicking (jianzi), calligraphy practice, Peking opera mask painting, and a display of Chinese language learning materials. The teachers introduced the local audience to Chinese textbooks and explained Chinese characters, allowing participants to enjoy both sports and the charm of traditional Chinese culture up close.

The teachers were also invited to present awards to the winners of the badminton tournament, marking the conclusion of the Chinese cultural experience event.

This was the first cultural exchange activity following the signing of a cooperation agreement between the two parties and received a warm response from the local community, laying a solid foundation for future Chinese language teaching. Club chairman Gergin Angelov expressed his hope that more similar cultural experience events could be held in the future to promote people-to-people exchanges between China and Bulgaria.
