Confucius Classroom at 101th Secondary School under the Confucius Institute in Sofia Hosted “China in Our Imagination” Children’s Art Exhibition

On December 12, the Confucius Classroom at 101th “Bacho Kiro” Secondary School, affiliated with the Confucius Institute in Sofia, held the “China in Our Imagination” children’s art exhibition in the school gymnasium. Attendees included Vesela Ivanova, Principal of the school; Aksiniya Koleva, Bulgarian Director of the Confucius Institute in Sofia; Chen Ying, Chinese Director; as well as the school’s vice principals and more than one hundred teachers and students.

Principal Vesela Ivanova expressed her gratitude to the Confucius Institute in Sofia for its strong support of Chinese language teaching at the school, and expressed hope that the exhibition would serve as a window through which students could better approach and understand China. Director Aksiniya Koleva congratulated the successful opening of the exhibition and encouraged students to study diligently and become ambassadors of Chinese-Bulgarian cultural exchange in the future. Nearly twenty students shared their experiences and enjoyment in learning Chinese, stating that they would continue studying the language and look forward to studying and living in China in the future.

The exhibition received nearly one hundred artworks. From diverse perspectives—including traditional Chinese architecture, cultural heritage sites, and historical stories—students used imaginative and childlike brushstrokes to depict their visions of China. Selected outstanding works will be displayed collectively in the school’s teaching building.

The event vividly demonstrated Bulgarian youths’ strong interest in and unique understanding of Chinese culture, adding a colorful chapter to the promotion of Chinese-Bulgarian cultural exchange.
