Burgas English Language School Confucius Classroom Hosted First Chinese Character Writing Competition and Calligraphy Workshop

On November 26, the Confucius Classroom at “Geo Milev” English Language School in Burgas, under the Confucius Institute in Sofia, held the award ceremony for its first Chinese Character Writing Competition, along with a calligraphy workshop. More than 50 people attended the event including: Zhaklin Neycheva, Principal of “Geo Milev” English Language School; Krasimira Miteva, Vice Principal; Confucius Institute teachers and students.

In her speech, Principal Zhaklin Neycheva fully praised the students for their outstanding achievements in learning Chinese, encouraged them to maintain their enthusiasm for study, and presented certificates and prizes to more than ten award-winning students.

During the subsequent calligraphy workshop, Confucius Institute teachers provided a detailed explanation of the history, artistic characteristics, and evolution of Chinese calligraphy, and gave on-site guidance on writing techniques. The students enthusiastically picked up their brushes to experience the beauty of Chinese character writing. Teachers also wrote personalized Chinese names for the students as souvenirs.

As the only Confucius Classroom in the region, the Confucius Classroom at “Geo Milev” English Language School in Burgas has continuously offered high-quality Chinese courses and a variety of cultural activities since its establishment, attracting attention and appreciation from the local community.
