A Delegation From the Connecting Belt And Road – Bulgaria And Romania Exchange And Experience Programme Has Paid a Visit To the Confucius Institute In Sofia

On May 21st 2024, a twenty-six-member delegarion from the "Connecting the Belt and Road - Exchange and Experience Programme in Bulgaria and Romania", organised by the Hong Kong Career Planning Association and the Belt and Road Youth Development Association, with the support of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong SAR, have visited the Confucius Institute in Sofia. The delegation has been received by Mrs Aksinia Koleva -the Bulgarian director of the Confucius Institute in Sofia and by prof.Chen Ying -the Chinese director of the Confucius Institute in Sofia. Mr.Yang Tian - Head of the Educational Department at the Chinese Embassy in Bulgaria, has attended the event.
The Chairman of the Hong Kong Career Planning Association (HKCPA), Mr Candy Hui, introduced the nature of the organisation and the purpose of the visit. He pointed out that it is a non-profit educational organisation in Hong Kong, which organises exchange experiences for school students and working youths in Bulgaria, aiming to examine the development of the local economy, culture and society under the Belt and Road Initiative, thus enhancing mutual understanding and guiding and inspiring the Hong Kong youngsters to think about the ways of combining their own growth with the development of the country. The delegation has visited the library.

Accompanied by the dean of the Chinese side, the delegation has visited the multi-functional hall, the activity hall and the library of the Confucius Institute in Sofia. A session of exchange between Chinese and Bulgarian young people, in which nearly 20 people, including teachers from the Confucius Institute, master's degree students majoring Chinese Studies and undergraduate students majoring Southeast Asian Studies at the Sofia University, and representatives of the students from the 18th Secondary School in Sofia from grade 8 to grade 11 had a chat with the delegation in the activity hall.The young people from China and Bulgaria have shared their topics of interest with each other. The athmosphere has been one of harmony and warmth.
