The Bulgarian Go Association (BGA) was founded in 2004 as a non-governmental, non-profit organization. The Association is dedicated to teaching and promoting the game of Go. Over the years, Go has been presented through various joint initiatives, including collaborations with the Confucius Institute–Sofia, the Embassy of Japan, the 18th Secondary School in Sofia, Mensa Bulgaria, Aniventure Fest, Sofia Game Night, and others.
After a several-year hiatus, in 2026 we plan to revive this established tradition and, with the kind hospitality of the Confucius Institute–Sofia, organize the Bulgarian Go Championship. The Championship will take place on March 21–22 at the Confucius Institute building, located at 79 Todor Alexandrov Blvd., Sofia.
The tournament will be held in an open format, and players from all across Europe are welcome to participate. A registration form will be published soon.
Everyone interested in the game of Go is welcome to join our weekly live games in Sofia every Tuesday from 6:30 PM. Friends of Go from the Sofia club “Atari Safari” meet at the Grumpy Dwarf pub, 3 Positano Street.
