The Confucius Institute In Sofia Have Held an End-Of-the-Year Meeting For the Academic Year 2024-2025

On 12th June 2025, the summary meeting for the 2024-2025 academic year of the Confucius Institute in Sofia has been held in a hybrid format – via a combination of online and offline participations. The meeting has been attended by Mrs Aksiniya Koleva - the Bulgarian director of the Confucius Institute in Sofia, Prof. Chen Ying - the Chinese director of CIS, Chinese teachers, local teachers, volunteers and the secretary responsible for the educational affairs. The Chairperson of the meeting has been Prof. Chen Ying - the Chinese director.

Both the Chinese and the Bulgarian directors have made summaries of the academic work during the school year. They have comrehensively reviewed the achievements made in the past year in aspects such as teaching Chinese, cultural exchanges, etc., Moreover, they have affirmed the hard work of all the teachers and the staff. At the same time, they have given a detailed interpretation of the assessment indicators and the scoring system for the current academic year.

During the reports part, the Chinese teachers and the volunteers have shared their personal views on work ethics, their experience in teaching Chinese, in the cultural activities, in the administrative work, in the news publications and in their academic research. Moreover, they have shared their experiences and achievements, the future goals in their plans, and have made suggestions on the development of the Confucius Institute based on their own teaching experience. Through an anonymous vote and a comprehensive evaluation by the two directors, a total of four teachers - Mrs Chen Chen, Mrs Wang Ying, Mrs Xiang Han and Mrs Liu Min, have been awarded the title of an "Excellent Chinese Teachers" of the Confucius Institute in Sofia. Mrs Wei Hongyu has been awarded the title of an "Excellent Volunteer Chinese Teacher" of the Confucius Institute in Sofia.

Being one of the first ‘Model Example Confucius Institute’ in the world, the Confucius Institute in Sofia have been committed to promoting the development of the Chinese education in Bulgaria and the cultural exchanges between China and Bulgaria for more than ten years. The suggestions of the teachers collected at this meeting will provide an important reference for the work of the Confucius Institute in Sofia in the next academic year.
