The Confucius Classroom at The University of Plovdiv Associated to The Confucius Institute in Sofia Has Hold Its Second Ceremony of The Chinese Ambassador Scholarships Awarding
On April 3rd 2024, the Confucius Classroom at the University of Plovdiv, associated to the Confucius Institute in Sofia have held the award ceremony for the second grant of the Chinese Ambassador Scholarships. The ceremony has been attended by Мrs Wang Min - the chargé d'affaires of the Embassy of China in Bulgaria, Mr Yang Tian – the head of the educational department of the Embassy of China in Bulgaria, Mr Boryan Yanev - the vice-Rector of the University of Plovdiv, Prof. Nadia Cherneva - the director of the Russian Centre at the Foreign Languages Department at the University of Plovdiv, Mrs Aksinia Koleva – the Bulgarian director of the Confucius Institute in Sofia, Prof.Chen Ying – the Chinese director of Confucius Institute in Sofia and other guests from the embassy of China in Bulgaria. More than 60 people comprising of teachers and students from the Confucius Classroom at the university, together with representatives of university students from China studyng in Bulgaria, have also attended the ceremony. The award ceremony has been hosted by the local Chinese teachers Mrs Elitsa Milanova from Bulgaria and Mrs Wang Ying from China.
Mrs Wang Min – the chargé d'affaires of the embassy of China in Bulgaria has spoken highly of the long-term friendly cooperation between the University of Plovdiv and the Confucius Institute in Sofia in terms of Chinese language education. She has fully affirmed the achievements of the Confucius Classroom in Chinese language teaching and training of international students going to China. She has expressed her hopes that the two institutions will maintain their successful cooperation and that it will create even better achievements. Mr Boryan Yanev – the vice-Rector of the university has expressed his ambitions to continue to strengthen the exchanges with the Confucius Institute in Sofia so that wider cooperation and mutually beneficial accomplishments could be achieved. The Chinese and the Bulgarian directors of the Confucius Institute in Sofia have summarised the work of the Confucius Classroom at the University of Plovdiv in the recent years and have encouraged everyone to continue to work hard to become envoys of the humanistic exchanges between China and Bulgaria.
The chargé d'affaires of the embassy of China in Bulgaria Mrs Wang Min has awarded the three winning students - Dimka Lazarova, Dessislava Gureva and Krasimira Panayotova. Dimka lazarova has expressed her gratitude to the embassy of China for recognising their achievements in Chinese language learning. She has promised that they will would continue to work hard in the future to live up to everyone's expectations. In addition, the Confucius Classroom have also selected the outstanding students who have actively participated in all classroom activities during 2023. These outstanding students have received certificates and prizes from the Chinese and the Bulgarian directors of the Confucius Institute in Sofia.
Bulgarian and Chinese university students have prepared elaborate cultural performances, including a solo performance on Bulgarian traditional bagpipe, a tai chi performance, a solo performance of the A Boat on the Ussuri River song and the group performance of China, I Love You song and many more. The Chinese paintings display has brought the performance to its climax. The atmosphere of the event has been warm and enthusiastic.
The Confucius Classroom at the University of Plovdiv which is part of the Confucius Institute in Sofia network of classrooms, has been established in 2016. With a total of more than 400 registered students and following several years of steady development, the classroom has become an important window for the local people to learn about the Chinese language and culture. The Confucius classroom at the University of Plovdiv has made a positive contribution to the promotion of humanistic exchanges between China and Bulgaria.
