The Confucius Classroom At the 138th Secondary School In Sofia, Under the Confucius Institute In Sofia, Have Celebrated Their 2025 Spring Festival
On 12th February 2025, the Confucius Classroom at the 138th Secondary School in Sofia under the Confucius Institute in Sofia, have held their 2025 Spring Festival celebration. Mr Yang Tian - Head of the Department For Education at the Chinese Embassy in Bulgaria, Mr Alexander Evtimov - Headmaster of the 138th Secondary School in Sofia, Mr Kiril Stanev – Headmaster of the Dr Petar Beron Secondary School in Kostinbrod, Mrs Hristina Velichkova - vice-Headmistress of the 101st Secondary School in Sofia, Mrs Liu Bei – a representative of the Chinese Cultural Centre in Sofia, Mrs Aksiniya Koleva – the Bulgarian director of the Confucius Institute in Sofia, and Prof.Chen Ying the Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute in Sofia, as well as more than 100 people including many teachers and students together with their parents from the school, have attended the event.
The headmaster of the school Mr Alexander Evtimov has welcomed the audience. He has said that the Year of the Snake symbolises wisdom, resourcefulness and change, and he has expressed his hope that the Year of the Snake could bring more wisdom and personal growth to everyone. He has also encouraged the students to study hard and to meet every challenge with confidence and determination.
The festival has been hosted by two students from the Confucius Classroom in both Chinese and Bulgarian languages. The students have presented a variety of performances including dances, Chinese songs, a guitar play, a guzheng and violin ensemble play, a poetry recitation, a theatre performance, etc. The performance of the Chinese idiom story ‘Draw Snake, Add Feet’has demonstrated the Chinese wisdom of ‘stopping before it is too late’. In the interactive quiz games with the audience, the audience have actively participated in the quiz and have deepened their understanding of the Chinese New Year traditions in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere.
Since its establishment, the Confucius Classroom at the 138th Secondary School in Sofia under the Confucius Institute in Sofia have been providing quality Chinese language courses at all levels and have been organising rich and colourful cultural activities, which have become an important platform for local people to learn about the Chinese language and culture.
