The 8th China-CEEC Education and Exchange Conference

From May 17 to 23, the Dean of the Faculty of Classical and New Philologies at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski" Prof. Madeleine Danova and the Bulgarian director of the Confucius Institute in Sofia Mrs Aksinia Koleva visited the city of Ningbo in Zhejiang province, China.

Their invitation to participate in the 8th China-CEEC Education and Exchange Conference" came from the Department of Education of Zhejiang province and the Ningbo City Municipality. Cooperation in the field of education between Ningbo and Central and Eastern European Countries (CEECs) has developed rapidly in the past 9 years. Different platforms have been built, including China-CEE Innovation Cooperation Research Center; Czech Language and Culture Center, China-Slovakia Education and Research Center, etc. Such platforms support multi-directional, multi-level and wide-ranging cooperation in the field of education between China and CEE countries.

During their stay in Ningbo, the Bulgarian representatives also met with the management of Zhejiang Wanli University. The aim was to promote cooperation between the two universities and to organize a Summer School for Chinese students at Sofia University this summer. On May 18, in the large hall of Wanli University, the guests from Bulgaria had a meeting with the university leaders, including the director of the academic council of the university, Mrs. Qian Guoyin, the deputy rector Xu Liqin, the dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages Mo Lili and others. Prof. Danova presented the structure and activities of Sofia University and possibilities for future cooperation were discussed. Later, the guests met with students from the university, where Prof. Danova presented the study opportunities at Sofia University, and Mrs. Koleva presented to the audience the history and activities of the Confucius Institute in Sofia.
