Teachers and Students of the Confucius Institute in Sofia Achieved Outstanding Results in the 26th World Chinese Students Essay Competition

On April 3, the results of the 26th World Chinese Students Essay Competition were officially announced. The competition was jointly organized by the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese and the All-China Federation of Taiwan Compatriots, and was hosted by Hebei Reading Media Co., Ltd., publisher of Happy Composition magazine. It attracted participation from 3,880 schools across 73 countries and regions worldwide, with over 5.7 million students taking part, and more than 550,000 essays submitted for review.

The Chinese-language schools affiliated with the Confucius Institute in Sofia organized preliminary rounds and selected 17 students to participate in the competition. After intense competition, seven students won multiple awards.

Among them, Jin Enqian from the Chinese Language School under the Confucius Institute (Association for China–Bulgaria Cultural Exchange) won First Prize in the Overseas Junior Category. Shen Ruiyan and Yao Tianyi won Second Prize, while Zhou Xun received Third Prize in the same category. Fu Siqi won Second Prize in the Overseas Primary Category. Chinese language teachers Ding Chen and Tian Yuhan from this teaching site received the “Outstanding Instructor Award.”

From the Confucius Classroom at the 18th Secondary School under the Confucius Institute in Sofia, Liu Nian won First Prize in the Overseas Intermediate Category, and Chen Xiaojia won Second Prize in the Overseas Advanced Category. Chinese language teachers Zhang Kaiyue and Latchezara Pravtcheva from this Confucius Classroom also received the “Outstanding Instructor Award.”

Notably, this is the first time that overseas Chinese students from the Confucius Institute in Sofia’s teaching sites and Confucius Classroom have participated in the World Chinese Students Essay Competition. Their excellent results fully demonstrate the strong Chinese language proficiency of local Chinese youth. The Confucius Institute will continue to support more outstanding students in shining on broader international stages.
