From February 16 to February 19, several teaching sites of the Confucius Institute in Sofia held Spring Festival dumpling-making experience activities. More than 50 participants, including students and teachers from the Confucius Institute in Sofia, took part in the events. The participants came from the National Computer Technology and System Vocational High School in Pravets, the 33rd Language High School “Sveta Sofia” in Sofia, the Private Secondary School “Gianni Rodari”, as well as the adult classes at the Confucius Institute’s main campus.
Under the guidance of the teacher, the students gradually went from being unfamiliar to becoming proficient, mastering the skills of rolling the dough and filling the dumplings, and experiencing the joy of making Chinese food by hand. At the end of the activity, everyone enjoyed the dumplings they had made themselves, savoring the delicious food while feeling the warm atmosphere of the Spring Festival. The event also attracted many students who were not in Chinese classes, all of whom showed strong interest in Chinese cuisine.
Using Chinese cuisine as a medium, students integrated their Chinese language learning into real-life scenarios. While experiencing the charm of Chinese New Year culture, they also further enhanced their enthusiasm for learning Chinese and understanding China.
