Confucius Institute in Sofia Concluded Successfully "You and I Talk about China’s Culture" Series of Lectures
From September 26th to 30th, 2022, the " You and I Talk about China’s Culture" lectures organized by the Confucius Institute in Sofia, came to a successful conclusion. The lectures were part of the regular project “Confucius Institute Week” which had been held for many years now. The lecturers invited were as follows: Professor Lin Wenshuang, Deputy Dean of the School of European Languages and Cultures at Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU); Professor Chen Ying, Director of the Bulgarian Language Teaching and Research Section of the School of European Languages and Cultures at BFSU; Mr. Valeri Ivanov, a famous Bulgarian Tai Chi master; Mrs. Ani Pesheva from Hanlin Publishing House; and Mr. Valentin Katranzhiev from the Diplomatic Institute at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bulgaria. All lectures were chaired by Aksinya Koleva, Bulgarian Director of the Confucius Institute in Sofia, while the Chinese Director, Professor Liu Xiuming, gave a concluding speech.
This year’s edition of Confucius Institute Week’s "You and I Talk about China’s Culture" series of lectures involved novel themes and a wide range of content, including the role of Sino-Bulgarian cultural exchange in boosting the development of Sino-Bulgarian international relations, Tai Chi culture, traditional Chinese medicine recipes, etc. More than 200 people took part in the event, the lectures received unanimous praise from the participants and the social response was positive. The audience actively interacted with the lecturers, expressed their personal thoughts, and further deepened their understanding of the commonalities and differences between Bulgarian and Chinese culture. The lectures achieved the expected effect and received gratifying results.
Prof. Liu Xiuming concluded: "Culture, as the soul of a nation, is a bond of mutual trust, mutual benefit, cooperation and win-win between countries. Bulgaria is one of the participating countries in the Belt and Road Initiative. The cultural exchange between China and Bulgaria is promoting mutual trust between the two peoples. The Confucius Institute in Sofia has been providing language education for more than 16 years, and has adhered to the purpose of promoting cultural exchange and mutual cultural enrichment between the two countries. The Institute strives to promote cultural connectivity and friendly cooperation between China and Bulgaria, as well as to cross the language barriers and achieve spiritual exchange. In the days to come, the Confucius Institute in Sofia will continue to put efforts into the cultural exchange between China and Bulgaria.”
