On February 15, the Confucius Classroom at 138 Secondary School in Sofia, affiliated with the Confucius Institute in Sofia, held the 2026 Spring Festival celebration. Over 100 participants attended, including Daniela Tsankova, principal of 138 Secondary School; Liu Bei, representative of the China Cultural Center in Sofia; Aksiniya Koleva, Bulgarian director of the Confucius Institute; Chen Ying, Chinese director; as well as the school’s teachers, students, and parents.
In her speech, Daniela Tsankova, principal of 138 Secondary School, summarized the remarkable achievements in Chinese language teaching, expressed her gratitude to the Confucius Institute in Sofia, affirmed the accomplishments of the students studying Chinese and the dedication of the teaching team, and expressed her hope that the friendship between China and Bulgaria would continue to deepen through educational exchanges. On the occasion of the Chinese New Year of the Horse, the principal extended sincere holiday greetings to the distinguished guests, teachers, and students present.
At the celebration, students from the Confucius Classroom presented a rich variety of performances, including Chinese song ensembles, Tai Chi demonstrations, drama skits, dance medleys, and traditional Chinese comedic storytelling with clappers (kuaiban). Laughter and applause filled the venue. At the end of the event, the Bulgarian director of the Confucius Institute and the principal of 138 Secondary School awarded students who had passed HSK levels 2 to 5.
Taking the Spring Festival as an opportunity, this event provided students with a platform to showcase their Chinese language skills and cultural literacy. The Confucius Classroom at 138 Secondary School will continue to carry out a variety of cultural experience activities, offering students more opportunities to experience Chinese culture up close.
