A Delegation From the ‘Connecting the Belt And the Road – An Exchange And Experience Programme In Bulgaria And Romania’Have Visited the Confucius Institute In Sofia

On 18th May 2025, a delegation of 30 people from the ‘Connecting the Belt And the Road - Exchange And Experience Programme In Bulgaria And Romania’, organised by the “Hong Kong Career Planning Association” and the ‘Belt And Road Youth Development Association’, have visited the Confucius Institute in Sofia. The Chinese director of the CIS – Prof.Chen Ying, has welcomed the delegation. Mr Yang Tian - the Head of the Educational Department at the Chinese Embassy in Bulgaria, has also attended the event, together with representatives of the international students from the ‘The Association Of the Chinese Students And Scholars In Bulgaria’ and representatives of the Chinese teachers team working at the Confucius Institute in Sofia.
Prof. Chen Ying - the Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute in Sofia, has introduced the history and the development of CIS, the facilities available at the CIS building, and the development and the current situation of the Chinese language teaching at the Institute. The delegation have had a warm conversation with the Chinese students studying in Bulgaria and the teachers working at the Confucius Institute in Sofia. Together they have discussed topics such as international students life in Bulgaria, the current situation and the traditional customs of Bulgaria, and the subject of teaching Chinese abroad. The delegation have also visited the multi-functional hall, the exhibition hall, the library and other teaching and cultural facilities at the Confucius Institute in Sofia.
This is the third consecutive visit of the Hong Kong Youth Exchange Group, which aims to understand the exchanges and the co-operation between China and Bulgaria under the ‘Belt and Road Initiative’ in the areas of economy and trade, education, humanities and other aspects through field visits and face-to-face exchanges among young people, and to provide the young people of Hong Kong with new perspectives on the integration of their individual career with the development of the countries. The Confucius Institute in Sofia will continue to actively participate in the youth exchanges between China and Bulgaria and will continue to convey the traditional friendship between China and Bulgaria.
