The Chinese and Bulgarian Directors of the Confucius Institute in Sofia were invited to visit the University of Ruse and attend the 10th anniversary celebration of Kaneff Center

On October 10, Mrs. Aksiniya Koleva, the Bulgarian Director of the Confucius Institute in Sofia, and Professor Liu Xiuming, the Chinese Director, invited by the University of Ruse “Angel Kanchev” visited the University. The heads of both parties held detailed discussions on the current situation, challenges, development opportunities and bright vision of the Confucius Classroom at the University of Ruse. Before the discussion, the two directors attended the tenth anniversary celebration of the Kaneff Center, a multi-functional building at the University of Ruse.

The heads of the University of Ruse warmly welcomed the arrival of the two directors of the Confucius Institute. The rector, Professor Hristo Beloev, the vice-rector, Associate Professor Desislava Atanasova, and Professor Yuliana Popova, who is in charge of the Confucius Classroom at the University of Ruse, warmly received the two directors in the rector’s office and had a friendly exchange. The Chinese and Bulgarian directors introduced the current excellent development of the Confucius Institute to Prof. Hristo Beroev while he introduced the friendly cooperation between the University of Ruse and China in recent years and praised the Confucius Classroom at the University of Ruse because it has made a positive contribution to Chinese language teaching and Chinese cultural activities in the Ruse area over the years. The rector also expressed his gratitude to the Confucius Institute in Sofia for its strong support towards the work of the University of Ruse.

Prof. Beloev hopes that in the future, the University of Ruse will maintain more and better exchange and cooperation with the Confucius Institute in Sofia and other Chinese universities. The two directors presented gifts on behalf of the Institute to the heads of the University and said that they look forward to deeper and broader cooperation with the University of Ruse in the future.

Before the meeting, the two directors of the Confucius Institute in Sofia attended the tenth anniversary celebration of Kaneff Center at the University of Ruse. Heads of the Ruse Municipal Government, deans of the University of Ruse, the Chinese and Bulgarian directors of the Confucius Institute in Sofia, and scholars from the corresponding units attended the event. Mrs. Aksiniya Koleva, the Bulgarian Director of the Confucius Institute in Sofia, delivered a speech on behalf of the Confucius Institute. She expressed warm congratulations on the 10th anniversary of the completion of Kaneff Center, expressed her gratitude to the center for its support towards the Confucius Classroom at the University of Ruse, and expressed optimism about the future cooperation between Kaneff Center and the Confucius Institute. The Center presented an honorary certificate to the Chinese and Bulgarian director.

On the same day, the Facebook page of the University of Ruse posted a special post about the visit of the Chinese and Bulgarian directors of the Confucius Institute in Sofia, expressing welcome and thanks for their arrival.
