Leaders of The China Foreign Languages Publishing and Distribution Bureau and The Foreign Languages Publishing House Have Visited The Confucius Institute in Sofia, Bulgaria

On March 4, 2024 Mr. Lu Cairong - deputy-Director of the Foreign Languages Publishing and Distribution Business Bureau of China, has led a delegation to visit the Confucius Institute in Sofia in order to guide the work and to discuss the mutual cooperation. The delegation consisted of Mr. Jia Qiuya - vice-President of the Foreign Languages Publishing House, Mr. Xie Peng - Director of the Collaboration and Coordination Division of the International Cooperation Department of the Bureau of Foreign Languages of China, Mr. Xiong Bingdi – deputy-Director of the Ideological and Academic Editorial Department of Foreign Languages Publishing House, and Mr. Tang Shu - a copyright expert at the International Cooperation Department of the Foreign Languages Publishing House. The delegation has been warmly received by Mrs. Aksiniya Koleva – the Bulgarian director of the Confucius Institute in Sofia, and by Prof. Liu Xiuming – the Chinese director of the CIF.

Accompanied by Mrs. Aksinia Koleva and prof. Liu Xiuming, both directors of the Confucius Institute in Sofia, the visiting delegation has toured the facilities for language teaching and for cultural activities inside the building of the Confucius Institute in Sofia - the spacious hall of the teaching building, the library hall with its collection amounting up to 28.000 books, the multi-functional hall for academic exchanges with a seating capacity of up to 200 people, the exhibition hall for students paintings and calligraphy, the Chinese food classroom, the multimedia classroom, the students lounge and so on.

During the conversation, Prof. Liu Xiuming and Mrs. Aksenia Koleva have first of all expressed their warm welcome to the visiting delegation. Then the two directors have introduced the history and the development of the Confucius Institute in Sofia, the current teachers situation, the overall planning and the development prospects of the CIS. Mr. Lu Cairong – the deputy-Director of the China Foreign Language Publishing and Distribution Bureau, has introduced the basic functions and the purpose of the trip of the delegation. Moreover, he has expressed his willingness to establish cooperation with the Confucius Institute in Sofia. He has shared his intention to provide support and assistance in the sphere of publication and distribution of books and journals, as well as in foreign language translations. The visiting delegation has expressed their support for the electronic management of the library being carried out by the Confucius Institute in Sofia, as  well as their hope that the library of the Confucius Institute in Sofia would play an active role in introducing the Chinese language and culture, and in promoting the education, the scientific research and the humanistic exchanges between China and Bulgaria. Eventually, both parties have exchanged gifts.
