The Confucius Classroom at Plovdiv University Under the Confucius Institute in Sofia Held a Skillful Crochet Panda Workshop

On April 29, the Confucius Classroom at Plovdiv University under the Confucius Institute in Sofia held a Skillful Crochet Panda workshop on campus. About 10 teachers and students from the Confucius Classroom participated in the event.

The event was initiated by Alexandrina Tabakova and Maria Zaneva, second-year undergraduate students majoring in Child Education at Plovdiv University. The two students are active participants in the cultural activities of the Confucius Classroom. They took the initiative to coordinate with the Chinese teachers and used giant panda culture as a starting point to help bring the activity to life.

The Chinese language teachers of the Confucius Classroom introduced vocabulary related to crocheting. During the hands-on session, from the first stitch to shaping the final form, the two students patiently and carefully guided the participants through every step. While experiencing the charm of Chinese handicraft art, the participants also broadened their Chinese language knowledge.

This activity combined crochet techniques with language learning, and also made the giant panda, a symbol of Chinese culture, more tangible stitch by stitch. This skill-based teaching method enhanced students’ interest in learning Chinese language and culture.
