The Confucius Classroom at Plovdiv University, Under the Confucius Institute in Sofia, Participated in a Chinese Language Promotion Event for Primary and Secondary Schools

On April 28–29, the Confucius Classroom at Plovdiv University, affiliated with the Confucius Institute in Sofia, was invited to participate in Chinese language information sessions held at two schools belonging to the “Stoyan Sariev” Educational Complex in Plovdiv. Nearly 40 people attended the events, including Svetla Toshkova, principal of the two schools, Chinese language teachers from the Confucius Classroom at Plovdiv University, and parents of students.

Principal Svetla Toshkova and teachers from the Confucius Classroom visited classrooms of different grade levels and communicated face to face with parents. Local Chinese language teacher Elitsa Milanova introduced the advantages of the Confucius Institute in Sofia in Chinese language teaching, cultural activity organization, and China–Bulgaria cultural exchange, as well as the characteristics of the Chinese language and effective learning methods. The principal also introduced the cooperation between the educational complex and the Confucius Institute in Sofia, together with the Chinese language teaching plan for the upcoming autumn semester. The parents gained a preliminary understanding of the Chinese language program and expressed their expectation that Chinese language courses would be added to the two schools.

The “Stoyan Sariev” Educational Complex in Plovdiv consists of two schools: the Private Language High School “Stoyan Sariev” and the Private Primary School “Badeshte” (“Future”). In February this year, the Chinese and Bulgarian directors of the Confucius Institute in Sofia visited the educational complex. During the visit, both sides agreed to incorporate Chinese language education into the curricula of the two schools starting from the autumn semester of 2026.
