Teaching site at No.191 Primary School under the Confucius Institute in Sofia Hosted Nezha Character-Themed Coloring Activity

On April 23, the primary school Chinese class at the teaching site of No. 191 Primary School under the Confucius Institute in Sofia organized a Nezha-themed coloring activity. A Chinese teacher from the Confucius Institute and 14 primary school students took part in the event.

At the beginning of the event, the teacher used the Chinese animated film Nezha: Birth of the Demon Child, which the students had previously watched, as an introduction. Together with the students, they reviewed Nezha’s iconic image and the storyline. After that, the teacher presented Nezha line drawings in different styles and explained basic color combination techniques. Under the teacher’s guidance, the students went through the entire process from planning the color scheme, outlining the details, to filling in the colors, and they gradually completed their own Nezha coloring pictures.

The students not only recreated the iconic features of Nezha’s character from the animated film, they further integrated personal interpretations into their artwork, either by incorporating Bulgarian elements into Nezha or by using vivid colors to emphasize his courageous character, showcasing their rich imagination and creativity.

The event was conducted in the form of a fun coloring activity and integrated language learning, cultural awareness, and hands-on coloring into one activity. It allowed students to engage closely with traditional Chinese cultural symbols and, by combining education with enjoyment, stimulated their enthusiasm for learning Chinese.
