Confucius Classroom at Plovdiv University under Confucius Institute in Sofia Held International Chinese Language Day Celebration

On April 20, the Confucius Classroom at Plovdiv University, affiliated with the Confucius Institute in Sofia, organized an International Chinese Language Day celebration on campus. Nearly 30 participants took part in the event, including teachers and students from the Confucius Classroom.

The format of this year’s International Chinese Language Day activity was a China-themed Q&A competition. Based on the core concept of “Yin and Yang” in ancient Chinese philosophy, the teacher divided the students into two teams—the Yin team and the Yang team—with four students in each team. The competition was conducted in a point-based Q&A format, consisting of two rounds with 20 questions in each round. The questions covered topics such as Chinese history, culture, art, and folk customs. In a relaxed and engaging atmosphere, the students not only gained knowledge but also came to appreciate the richness, depth, and profound nature of Chinese culture.

As part of the series of celebration activities for the 10th anniversary of the Confucius Classroom at Plovdiv University, this competition encouraged students to move from “passive learning” to “active participation,” further stimulating their enthusiasm for Chinese language and culture. Through reviewing and addressing gaps in their knowledge, they were able to strengthen and solidify their foundation in Chinese.
