20260610 Confucius Classroom at No. 18 Secondary School, under the Confucius Institute in Sofia, Held a Chinese Tea Culture Workshop

From June 8 to 10, the Confucius Classroom at Sofia Secondary School No. 18, under the Confucius Institute in Sofia, organized a Chinese tea culture workshop. Teachers from the Confucius Classroom and more than 90 students from grades 9 to 11 participated in the event.

At the beginning of the workshop, the teacher used multimedia presentations to introduce the six major types of Chinese tea—green tea, black tea¹, white tea, dark tea², oolong tea, and yellow tea. The teacher focused on how different levels of fermentation influence tea classification, as well as the production techniques and health benefits of each type.

The teacher then demonstrated the traditional procedures of Chinese tea art, guiding the students through the proper techniques and practices. Detailed explanations were also provided on the etiquette and ceremonial requirements associated with the tea ceremony.

After the presentation, the students had the opportunity to experience the art of tea preparation firsthand. Under the guidance of the teacher, they carefully followed each step they had learned and served tea to their classmates. The room was filled with the fragrant aroma of tea, and the atmosphere was lively.

This workshop, through a combination of theory and practice, offered students a cultural journey that integrates smell, taste, and inner-self cultivation, deepening their understanding of traditional Chinese culture.
