202060528 "Horizons 2026"

On 28 May 2026, the annual gala event “Horizons 2026”, organized by Manager magazine, was held at the National Museum of History in Sofia. Among the guests was Aksiniya Koleva, the Bulgarian Director of the Confucius Institute in Sofia.

Manager is a monthly magazine published by Manager Media Group. For the past 26 years, it has focused on topics related to business, management, economics, technology, marketing, and other fields.

The “Horizons” initiative is founded on the belief that culture is a driving force for ideas—it creates, develops, and preserves them over time. Business, in turn, brings these ideas to life, transforms them into reality, and uses them to shape the future.

This year's theme was closely related to education, the foundation upon which a thoughtful, active, and responsible society is built. The special guest of the event was Andria Zafirakou, winner of the 2018 Global Teacher Prize. The event was moderated by Prof. Veselin Metodiev, historian, former Deputy Prime Minister, and former Minister of Education of Bulgaria.

Mrs. Zafirakou’s lecture, entitled “The Uncomfortable Truth About Education: Is School Preparing Children for a World That No Longer Exists?”, attracted considerable interest and sparked a lively discussion on the role and essence of schooling in the age of artificial intelligence.
