The book is the first academic monograph on Chinese language grammar published in Bulgaria. It presents the morphological system of the modern Chinese language and discusses current theoretical questions about the relevance of the main conceptual categories of classical linguistics such as morpheme, word, parts of speech, grammatical categories etc. to the specific realities of Chinese language. The monograph describes the semantic and grammatical characteristics of Chinese language classes, their functional-semantic subclasses and specific categories. The book is suitable for researchers in the field of Chinese linguistics, general and comparative linguistics as well as a tool for teaching and studying the grammar of modern Chinese.


About the author:
Dr. Antonia Tzankova graduated from the major “Chinese Philology” at St. Petersburg State University, where she was taught linguistics by the world-recognized Sinoogist Sergei Yahontov. She defended her doctoral dissertation on “Faculty of Aspectual-temporal Markers in  Contemporary Chinese Language” at Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski” in 2015. Currently she is teaching the following disciplines at the Sofia University: Grammar of Chinese Language, Old Chinese Language, Practical Chinese Language – Interpretation, etc. Her scientific interests and research are in the field of grammar of modern and classical Chinese, functional linguistics, semantics and pragmatics.
