Seminar on Cultural Relations
On December 11, 2019, a Seminar on Cultural Relations was held at the Confucius Institute in Sofia in honor of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the People’s Republic of China and the Republic of Bulgaria.
The event was attended by Mr. Yang Jianjun, Political Advisor at the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Bulgaria, Prof. Anastas Gerdjikov, Rector of Sofia University „St. Kliment Ohridski ”, Ms. Zhang Siying, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Foreign Language Education and Research Publishing House, Mr. Lyuben Kozarev, Director of East-West Publishing House, Ms. Yuliana Tomova, Managing Director of Bulgarian Best Seller Publishing House, Prof. Chen Ying, Head of the Department of Bulgarian Studies at Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) and other distinguished guests.
During the seminar contracts for Bulgarian-Chinese cooperation in the field of book publishing were signed, followed by presentation of the translated Chinese books, which can already be found on the Bulgarian market. The honorary speakers of the event Prof. Nako Stefanov from Sofia University and Prof. Chen Ying from Beijing Foreign Studies University delivered lectures on the topics „Cultural Relations between Bulgaria and China (from the Beginning of the Reforms in the end of 1978 to Present Days) „and „Chinese Literature in Bulgaria and Vice Versa – Translations and Publishing“.
